Conduct Code

Code of Conduct

The organizers of the 4th International ISME-Lat 2025 Congress are committed to providing an inclusive, respectful, safe and harassment-free environment for all participants regardless of gender, gender identification and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, political affiliation, religion (or lack thereof) or technological choices.

Ethical and professional values are embraced at events, and all attendees are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, both with and without those involved in the event, inside and outside the event. Harassment of conference participants of any kind will not be tolerated. Language, images and behavior of a sexual nature are not appropriate at the Congress including lectures, workshops, fellowship and digital media.

Although the Congress may offer a limited amount of alcoholic beverages during some parts of the event, ISME-Lat 2025 is not responsible for individual ingestion by participants and notes that recreational drug use, tobacco use and vaporizers are prohibited within the Congress venues.

If a participant engages in inappropriate behavior during the event, the organizers and relevant authorities may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the Congress with no right to reimbursement. Likewise, participants with guests (spouses, children or others) are considered fully responsible for the behavior of their guest(s) and may also be sanctioned.

Harassment is any inappropriate conduct that can reasonably be expected to cause offense or humiliation to another person or be perceived as such. Offensive verbal or written comments based on gender, gender identification and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, and technological choices are not permitted at the ISME-Lat 2025 Congress.

Language, images and conduct of a sexual nature in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, and photographing or recording that makes another uncomfortable is also not acceptable (also applicable to oral presentations or posters with a specific “no photography” message).

If a person believes that he/she has been harassed during Congress events, he/she may report the matter to the organizers or competent security authority, and if anyone has witnessed such harassment, he/she should report it. The Congress organizers have an obligation to take appropriate action according to their applicable policies, norms and rules.

The ISME-Lat 2025 Congress does not organize, promote or take responsibility for scientific collecting activities in Mexican territory by participants. Those wishing to carry out such activities must have the “License for scientific collection for wildlife education purposes” issued by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
